A Columbus man was arrested Tuesday night after stabbing another man during an altercation.
Steven Corinth Ross, 46, of 2411 Third. Ave. S., assaulted 50-year-old Willie McCarthy around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of Third Avenue South, according to Columbus Police Investigator Raymond Hackler, who gave no further details about the incident.
According to Columbus Police Chief Selvain McQueen, McCarthy was stabbed in the back and was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Wednesday afternoon, McCarthy was still in the hospital in the intensive care unit.
Ross was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon. His bond and court date have not been set.

Anterrio Jawain Davis, 24, of 515 15th St. N., was arrested by CPD Jan. 31 on charges of possession of a kilo of marijuana, possession of cocaine, contempt of court, driving with a suspended driver’s license, reckless driving, driving with no insurance and giving false information. Bond is $32,896; a court date is not set.
Leshawn Videll Cunning, 35, of 326 Quince St., was arrested by CPD Feb. 1 on charges of possession of cocaine and violation of parole. Bond is $7,500; a court date has not been set.
Breman Sean Woolbright, 40, of 122 Gaylane, was arrested by CPD Feb. 1 on charges of third offense shoplifting of $250 or more and first-offense driving under the influence. Bond is $11,029; the court date is Feb. 22.
Jeremy Jamaal Brown, 19, of 300 S. Lehmberg Road, No. 151, was arrested by LCSO Feb. 1 on charges of possession of counterfeit money and possession of marijuana. Bond was $5,520, and he was released Feb. 4. The court date is Feb. 28.
Johnathan Wilkes Hughes, 28, of 821 22nd St. N., was arrested by CPD Feb. 2 on charges of possession of cocaine and contempt of court. Bond is $7,891; the court date is May 14.
Timothy Brandon Spraggins, 19, of 934 Chandler St. in West Point, was arrested by CPD Feb. 2 on a charge of grand larceny of more than $500. Bond was $1,500, and he was released Feb. 3. His court date is March 1.

Diane Butler, 32, of 1011 Fourth St. S., No. 24, was arrested by CPD Feb. 5 on charges of possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance. Bond is $7,500; court date is May 14.
Travis L. Jackson, 22, of 40151 Wolfe Road in Caledonia, was arrested by LCSO Feb. 5 on the felony charge of taking a motor vehicle. Bond has not been set; a court date has not been set.
Hazel Jordan Kesler, 56, of 177 Pearrow Drive in Caledonia, was arrested by LCSO Feb. 5 on three charges of possession of a controlled substance. Bond was $8,850, and she was released Feb. 6. The court date is March 7.
