A 25-year-old New Hope man was arrested after authorities received information accusing him of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl.
Nathan Page, of 519 Oswalt Road in the New Hope area, was arrested Jan. 5 and charged with statutory rape. Lowndes County Chief Deputy Greg Wright said the investigation started almost one month before the arrest.
“We received a report on Dec. 11 in which a caller stated to (a deputy) that the caller had information of the caller’s 14-year-old stepdaughter was having sexual relations with a 25-year-old man who lived in New Hope by the name of Nathan Page,” Wright said, noting the girl told her stepparent about the relationship and the adult notified law enforcement.
“Based on the information the deputy had, he notified the criminal investigator on duty, Travis Robertson, and the investigation was turned over to him at that time,” Wright said. “He took statements and was also able to gain other evidence related to this case.”
Page is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. The initial court date is May 14.
