Two girls, 14 and 12, broke into a Columbus house early Sunday and cut a 12-year-old girl”s hand with a knife after an argument about a boy.
The juveniles, whose names are not being released, kicked in a flimsy door at 1402 Fifth Ave. N. just after midnight Sunday morning, said Police Information Officer Terrie Songer.
The victim grabbed a knife to defend herself, but the 14-year-old girl wrested it away and cut the victim”s hand, Songer said. The victim was also beaten by the girls, but did not require hospitalization.
The boy they were fighting over was also there trying to break up the fight, along with two other boys who heard the fight from down the street and ran to the scene, Songer continued.
The 14-year-old girl was arrested Monday night on a charge of burglary, Songer said. Police officers are still looking for the 12-year-old suspect.
Although the incident was initially reported as a home invasion, Songer said the suspects would only be charged with burglary.
