A man who attacked another with a machete after an argument remains in jail. A mother accused of child abuse bonded out the same day she was arrested.
William Lewis Ross, of 1419 20th St. N., Apt. 7, was arrested at his residence at about midnight Saturday after he attacked 47-year-old Anthony “Tony” Williams, according to the Columbus Police Department. Ross remains in jail on a $5,000 bond.
According to reports, Williams wrested the machete from Ross and went to neighbor”s house to ask them to call an ambulance. By then, he had received at least three cuts to the head and another three to his hands.
Williams was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle; he was released from the hospital on Sunday.
Diane Thomas Whitfield, 36, was arrested at her 911 Shady St. home at about 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday for reportedly beating her 7-year-old son with a car fan belt.
Whitfield was reported to police by the boy”s father on Saturday for hitting their son on the “backside,” Friday.
Whitfield”s bond was set at $500.
