Members of American Legion Post 69 will place flags on the graves of veterans at Friendship Cemetery and other cemeteries in Lowndes County, starting Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Legion member Jim Richardson said the local American Legion Post has been placing flags on the graves of veterans every Memorial Day and Veteran”s Day for as long as he can remember
“It”s a pretty big chore, but we do it to honor the veterans,” Richardson said. “All of them are heroes, and it”s just part of our tradition.”
The Ladies Auxiliary, the Junior Girls, and the Sons of the American Legion will also participate.
The public is welcome to attend.
