A Starkville woman was arrested Thursday for attempting insurance fraud.
Phoneshia Mobley, 24, of 305 Everglade Ave. Apt. 26 B, filed a report at the Starkville Police Department April 7 claiming her home had been burglarized and several items leased from a rent-to-own retailer had been stolen.
Through the course of its investigation, the SPD determined Mobley provided false information regarding the rent-to-own items, which were the only items reported stolen. She was arrested Thursday and charged with embezzlement under contract for attempting to collect insurance money on the items.
As of Friday, Mobley was in the Clay County Jail awaiting bond. Additional charges are expected.
No details were released regarding the rented items.
