A Starkville home was destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday.
The Starkville Fire Department responded to a call at 169 Eutaw Drive shortly before 5 a.m. and found the house fully involved with flames exiting the roof and windows. Four trucks from three stations were deployed and the fire was contained within 35 minutes.
Fire Marshal Stein McMullen confirmed the home”s two residents, a woman and her mother, were not in the building when the fire began and had been notified. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
The house, he said, is likely a total loss.
The house fire was the third incident response from the SFD”s 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. shift. A Dumpster fire was reported at 3 p.m. Wednesday and a car fire was reported at 10 p.m.
