A 17-year-old student was slightly injured Friday morning when he was jumped from behind while waiting for a school bus in Columbus, police said.
The male victim, who was waiting with about 30 other students at Waterworks Road and Mill Street, received a non-critical cut to his face, police officers said. He and the other students declined to give Columbus police a suspect description.
The victim is not thought to have been involved in any wrongdoing.
The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction from the scene.
Friday marked the second day of the school year for Columbus public schools.
