A 21-year-old Mexican citizen was charged Friday with fleeing the scene of an accident after he allegedly bumped his truck into a Dodge Durango in Columbus.
Eduardo Uribe Pena was driving erratically behind Amanda Barton, 30, before hitting her rear bumper while she was stopped at Highway 69 and Airline Road at about 8 a.m., Barton said.
Pena then left the scene headed toward downtown Columbus, where he was spotted and pulled over at the Regal Cleaners on Main near Seventh Street.
Officers on the scene said the suspect, who did not speak English, was driving without a license or insurance.
He did have a temporary Social Security card and a passport.
Pena was cited for leaving the scene of an accident, not having a driver”s license and not having insurance.
The damage done to the vehicles was minimal and no one was injured, officers said.
