The West Point Police Department arrested Michael Ball, 17, of 312 W. Half Mile St. in West Point for the shooting of fellow West Point teen Marcus Johnson.
Though Ball is a minor, he is being tried as an adult “due to the severe nature of the offense,” the WPPD wrote in a press release.
Johnson, who was shot six times in the torso by a .38 caliber pistol while walking along Kitty Dill Memorial Parkway walking trail in West Point, Dec. 21, is recovering at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The West Point Police spoke with the victim Friday and are seeking a second suspect in the shooting.
Ball is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He”ll make his initial court appearance on Jan. 5, 2010 in West Point Municipal Court.
