It”s only taken $65,000 and three months to turn a Columbus home, which was once on the verge of becoming run down, back into a beauty.
The family home of Charles Holland, located at 1515 Military Road in Columbus, had seen better days until he decided to sell the home and make proper renovations.
Holland lives in Oklahoma. His mother, Betty, lived in the house, but has since moved into a retirement home. Holland has trusted his Realtor, Brenda Waldrop, with overseeing the improvements.
“Everything the building inspector recommended do, he”s doing,” said Waldrop. “He gutted the bathroom, did a lot of repairs to the hardwood floors, replaced a whole joist in another bathroom.”
The repairs are being handled by G and G Contractors of Columbus. The G and G team is made up of firefighters Mike Gibson and Andy Grant.
The 2,600 square foot house, which was built in 1930, sits upon 11 acres of land. The property includes fountains, a log cabin and an Olympic sized swimming pool.
“The grounds are beautiful,” said Waldrop. “There are several dogwoods, magnolias and all sorts of unique trees.”
Waldrop is planning on conducting an open house so the public can view the home just as soon as all the renovations are complete.
“We”re trying to get the outside painted right now,” she said.
The house is listed for sale at $399,000.
