Burglaries dominate CPD crime reports

The following incidents were reported by the Columbus Police Department:

  • Racquel Abundis April 23 at 10:26 a.m. reported to the CPD she was missing a purse. Abundis said she went inside Dollar General, located at 1311 Main St. The car door was left unlocked, and when she returned from to the car, her purse was missing along with several cards and credit cards.
  • Tyrone Harris April 23 at 8:02 a.m. reported a burglary of his home located at 2518 Sixth Ave. N. Harris said during the night April 21 someone broke into his house through a window on the north side of the home and took two portable DVD players and a case of CDs.
  • Ahmed Quasem of 227 N. McCrary Road April 23 at 6:46 p.m. reported someone busted out a window to his store, M&K Mini Mart located at the same address, and stole two boxes of Swisher Sweets cigarillos, and two boxes of Black and Mild cigars; the items were all on a shelf by the window.

  • Larry Staples, of 308 23rd St. N., Friday at 9:25 a.m. reported he noticed a bullet hole on the west side of his house. Staples said he believes this is a related incident to the shooting that occurred on 310 23rd St. N., April 23. A Columbus man suffered a bullet wound late last Thursday night during a drive-by shooting, according to police. At about 10:10 p.m. Thursday, 18-year-old Keion McGregory was standing on the corner of 23rd Street and Fourth Avenue North when seven shots rang out from an unidentified car. McGregory took one bullet to the shoulder. No one else was injured in the attack; he was treated and released from Baptist Memorial Hospital -Golden Triangle.

    The bullet at Staples” home was located lying beside the bed in the southwest bedroom where the bullet entered the home.
  • Dortonia Bankhead Friday at 11:44 p.m. reported to the CPD that on Thursday at about 6 p.m., four black females assaulted her on the corner of 14th Avenue and 21 Street North. Bankhead said she knew two of females, Mark K. Young and her sister, Nikki Agnew but could not identify the other two females.
  • Lashayla Leech Sunday at 11:35 p.m., said while at Legends, located at 2005 13th Ave. N., someone vandalized her white 2007 Grand Prix by shattering the windows. Leech then discovered her purse missing along with her credits cards and money.
  • Bonita Rush Saturday at 12:54 p.m. said someone broke into her vehicle located at 22nd Street North and busted the passenger window out and took her black purse along with credits card and money; the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.
  • Dedra Rogers Saturday at 12:54 a.m. called authorities to report a burglary of her vehicle located on 22nd Street North. Rogers said someone broke into her vehicle and took her black and white handbag along with her credits cards and cash.
