Police respond to burglary call at Legends

Columbus Police Department reserve officer, Guy Taylor, was dispatched to Legends nightclub at 2005 13th Ave. N. at 2:35 p.m. Saturday in reference to the burglary of a 2007 White Grand Prix. The victim said someone had stolen her black purse, which contained undetermined amount of cash and various other personal paperwork.

The victim said her friend”s purse also was in the car and was missing. Her friend”s purse was pink and also contained undetermined amount of cash and various other personal paperwork; it also contained her car keys. The incident is under investigation by the CPD”s Criminal Investigation Division.

The following other incidents were reported by the CPD:

Entry was gained into the vehicle by shattering the driver”s side window out.

CPD officer Bill McClure was dispatched to 1218 15th St. S. Sunday at 11:15 p.m. in reference to a burglary to a home. The victim said a RCA 32-inch flat screen TV, Playstation 3 game console, approximately 30 Playstation 2 games, approximately 30 DVD movies and an unknown amount of cash was taken. Entry was gained by someone kicking the front door open. CCID was contacted, and Investigator Travis Robertson has taken over the case.

CPD officer Don Oilfield was dispatched to Propst Park Monday in reference to the burglary of a1998 beige Toyota. The victim said nothing was missing. Entry was gained through the back glass.

David Andrews Monday at 9:40 a.m. reported to the Columbus Police Department someone had stolen his 1989 white Chevrolet Z-71 4×4 (Tag No. LU2512). The truck was last seen at Lowndes County Radial Tire at 1512 Highway 45 N. on Friday night. Andrews said he left the truck there to go out of town. An employee said the truck was not there Saturday morning when he came to work.

CPD officer Paul Short last Wednesday at 2 p.m. was working the Municipal Court as a bailiff, when he holding cell court personnel alerted Short that an inmate was sick.

The inmate, Gerry Anderson, who was being housed in one of the holding cells for court session, appeared to be having a seizure.

Short call 911, and the medical team transported Anderson to Baptist Memorial Hospiat Golden Triangle, where she was treated and released.

Cathy Jones Thursday at 5:27 p.m. reported to the CPD an electric dirt bike and a girl”s purple bike was missing from her home located at 118 Brown St. Jones said her neighbor saw a tall black male with dread locks take the items and put them in a maroon, white and silver colored big-body car, then drive off.
