Main Street Columbus and the Hitching Lot Farmers” Market invite everyone to jump into spring Saturday by visiting the Giant Possum Town Yard Sale.
More than 50 vendors will be selling items, including antique furniture, kitchen equipment and clothing, at the communitywide sale, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hitching Lot Farmers” Market in downtown Columbus.
“With such a wide range of participation from the community, there is sure to be something for everyone,” said Main Street Columbus Director Amber Murphree. “We are thrilled with the response from the community and are expecting a great turnout on Saturday. We hope everyone will come out and join us. The forecast is for beautiful weather, so that should make the day even more enjoyable.”
Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase during the sale; the Farmers” Market is located on Second Avenue North at Second Street.
“The concept of the Giant Possum Town Yard Sale was to create an opportunity (for) an event at the Farmers” Market where not everything has to be locally grown, made or conjured up, as it does during the regular season, and also as a fundraiser for the market,” Murphree said, referring to the Farmers” Market season, which begins again April 25, when everything sold is locally created or grown. “We are happy others have joined in the efforts to raise funds for their organizations, as we have several Relay for Life teams and non-profit groups, in addition to many individuals, set up to sell their wares.
“The Giant Possum Town Yard Sale is a way to support your neighbors in their spring cleaning efforts and to find some treasures for yourself,” she added. “Palmer Home for Children will be on hand to accept donations for unsold items that vendors wish to donate and Triangle Maintenance Service will also be on site to accept any items to be recycled.”
