Police have arrested a juvenile who is believed to have been involved in a shooting last week. March 24 at 6:24 p.m., Carnell Brown of 132 Maple St. reported to the Columbus Police Department a disturbance in progress in which someone was firing a gun at an intersection in front of his house.
Police have charged Ruben Rice, 17, with two counts of aggravated assault. No bond or preliminary hearing date have been set.
The following other crimes were reported by the CPD:
- Martha Lagrone of 215 20th St. N. told the CPD March 22 at 11 a.m. someone broke into her 1990 blue Geo Prism. She reported the theft of a CD player.
- A local beauty salon was the site of a forced entry and burglary. March 23 at 6:27 a.m., Trimeka Morris, owner of Hollywood Fashion, reported to police someone had thrown a brick through the front door glass. It also appeared someone tried to kick the door open. She reported missing eight pairs of Ed Hardy shoes, a Prada bag, a pair of Coach sunglasses, two pair black and white Air Force Nikes, eight Pit Bull hats and three pair of Coolgi shorts.
- Darlene Theweatt reported parking her 2008 Hyundai Sonata in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Highway 45 North in Columbus March 23 at about 3:30 p.m. Upon returning at 4:30, Theweatt said she found her driver”s license, BankFirst debit card, and a .22 Mag Pistol stolen from the car. There was no sign of forced entry.
n Police responded to a complaint from Johnny Joyner, 1129 Seventh St. N. in Columbus, the morning of March 23. Joyner said his red Chevrolet Tahoe was stolen the night before.
