Mississippi University for Women freshman Emma Grace Alexander, of New Hope, is the 2021-22 recipient of the MUW Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship.
A New Hope High graduate, she is majoring in business management with a minor in history.
When Alexander explored her college choices, The W was a natural choice, she said.
“My family has a rich history with The W,” she said. “My grandfather worked at The W for many years, and my parents met while attending The W. I always grew up with stories about how much they loved their time at The W. When I went to visit The W my senior year, I knew that this was the perfect school for me.”
Alexander is enjoying The W campus and the people there.
“My favorite part of attending MUW are all the people I’ve met and the friendships that I’m making,” she said. “I also really enjoy how pretty and peaceful the campus is.”
After she graduates, Alexander plans to earn a master’s degree in hospitality and resort management.
“I’d like to one day manage a resort so that I can help families have the best experience possible while they make memories on vacation,” she said.
When she’s not studying, Alexander enjoys playing with her dog, spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies and listening to music.
MUWAA President Katherine Shell Benson congratulated Alexander on the alumni scholarship.
“Her ambition and academic performance make Emma Grace a wonderful addition to Mississippi University for Women,” she said. “We congratulate her on receiving the MUWAA Legacy Scholarship and look forward to her being an active member of the Alumni Association after graduation.”
The MUWAA supports and promotes the mission of The W while providing alumni engagement opportunities. Any former student who has completed at least 12 semester hours at the university and who has made an annual contribution to the MUW Foundation is an active member eligible to vote and hold office for the year.
