Virtual Christmas Tree Lighting -- Columbus lights its city tree via Facebook Live and WCBI at 6 p.m., with carolers and special guests including Santa and Miz Claus. Virtually chat with Santa following the lighting. Main Street Columbus, 662-328-6305.




Tuesday, Dec. 1


"Deck the Halls" -- Lowndes County Master Gardeners host a Christmas decorating seminar at 10 a.m. via Zoom. (Members may sign up to attend in person at the Lowndes Extension office, if desired.) Register for the video conference at to receive a link. 662-328-2111.

Hospice Tree Lighting Ceremony -- Baptist Hospice-Golden Triangle honors lives of those lost with this outdoor event at 5:30 p.m. at 2309 Bluecutt Road, Suite B. Light refreshments served. 662-243-1173.

Grinch Fest -- Don't let the grinch steal your Christmas; watch for plans. This event from 5-8 p.m. features downtown shopping, activities and getting your "passport" stamped in Whoville. Main Street Columbus, 662-328-6305.

The Art of Hospitality -- The Columbus Arts Council presents Ralph Null, Sarah Labensky, Terry Conerly and Jason Sims sharing advice on entertaining with wines, food and flowers, 1-4 p.m. at the Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St. Bid on table arrangements, fine wines and art. Saturday, Dec. 12


Whoville Cruisin' -- Cars, trucks, golf carts and gators are invited to decorate "Grinch-style" and join this cruise through downtown Columbus at 3:30 p.m. Meet at the Hitching Lot Farmers' Market, Second Avenue and Second Street North, between 2-3 p.m. (No vehicle to be driven outside parade route that is not street legal.)
