An a cappella ensemble known for its harmonious covers of Disney, Broadway and holiday hits will take the stage Jan. 23 to continue Mississippi State’s Lyceum Series.
Voctave will perform selections from its 2017 album “The Corner of Broadway and Main Street” at 7 p.m. in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium. The work features medleys of Disney classics such as “Beauty and the Beast” and adaptations of Broadway tunes such as “Bring Him Home” from “Les Miserables.”
Formed in Central Florida in 2015, the 11-member group has common roots with Walt Disney Entertainment’s Voices of Liberty, an a cappella ensemble at Walt Disney World’s Epcot attraction. Members’ individual repertoires include a variety of musical genres, such as pop, contemporary Christian, musical theater and gospel. The group has collaborated with Grammy, Dove and American Music Award winners such as Sandi Patty, Kristin Maldonado and Mark Lowry.
Voctave has recorded five studio albums and its latest EP, “Voctave Symphony Series: Christmas Edition,” includes covers of classic holiday songs. The 2017 holiday album, “Snow,” peaked at No. 24 on Billboard’s “Heatseekers Albums” chart. The group’s current tour continues until Feb. 2 and includes stops in Nashville and Houston.
