Road Dawgs Tour 2019 -- The MSU Road Dawgs Tour stops in Starkville with Head Football Coach Joe Moorhead, Director of Athletics John Cohen and additional guests at the Leo Seal Jr. Football Complex on campus. Buffet lunch is 11:30 a.m. (Doors open 11 a.m.) Program begins at noon. $15 advance registration at eventbrite.com. $20 walk-ins; limited capacity. Book signing -- Mississippi State alumna R.C. (Ruth) White signs her new book "Ten Million Kisses" from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Barnes & Noble on the MSU campus.

The Big Payback -- This benefit for Zachary's staff as the restaurant rebuilds following a fire is 1-7 p.m. at Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus. Oktibbeha plant sale -- Oktibbeha County Master Gardeners hold an annual plant sale from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the Starkville Community Market at the intersection of Lampkin and Russell Streets. Proceeds support horticulture scholarships to MSU. 

 

 

 

Monday, May 20 

 

Farm to Fork dinner -- This Starkville Community Market benefit features a five-course meal prepared by local chefs with locally-grown and crafted ingredients from market vendors, at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station Park, Starkville. Thursday, May 23 

 

Downtown at Sundown -- A series of free summer concerts at Firestation Park in Starkville begins with music by Flathead Ford from 7-9 p.m. Lawnchairs or blankets welcome; no coolers. Food and drink vendors will be on site. For more information, visit starkville.org. 

 

 

 

Sunday, May 26 

 

Northside Charity Boil -- This fundraiser benefiting the Golden Triangle Homeless Coalition is hosted by Colin and Desiree Krieger from 1-7 p.m. at 803 Fifth Ave. N. in Columbus. Sunday Funday -- A new season of monthly Sunday Funday community celebrations begins with live music, art vendors and kids' tent from 1-6 p.m. at 513 University Drive, Starkville.

Loaves & Fishes -- This year's annual Loaves & Fishes Community Soup Kitchen fundraiser is a fish fry from 5-7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 318 College St., Columbus. Live music, raffles, dine-in or takeout. Plates are $15; two for $25, includes beverage and dessert. Saturday, June 1 

 

Ride for Camp Rising Sun -- Tammy's Ride for Camp Rising Sun invites motorcyclists to raise kickstands for a good cause at 10 a.m. (registration 8:30 a.m.) at the American Legion, 308 Chubby Lane, Columbus. $20 per rider; $5 per passenger. Live entertainment, kids area and food available.
