Many years ago, I quietly fell into the role of green bean casserole maker for our family’s special occasion dinners. As such, I’ve searched out plenty of recipes to see how others appointed to this duty change things up from time to time. I guess I thought I’d seen pretty much everything, but here’s a new one for me. This Green Beans Deluxe recipe from tasteofhome.com calls for sour cream and onion, even a pinch of nutmeg. I hope the regulars gathered ’round our Easter table Sunday are open to something a bit new, although I may encounter a revolt if fried onion rings aren’t somewhere in close proximity, if not actually on top of the casserole. We tend to be creatures of habit.
If your Easter assignment is green bean casserole, you might enjoy making this version. Wherever you are Sunday, whoever you are with — or not — here’s wishing everyone a meaningful and delicious day.
