Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13  

 

Golden Triangle Kennel Club show -- The Mississippi Horse Park, 869 E. Poor House Road, Starkville, hosts this GTKC competition for canines, with conformation, obedience and rally trials, from about 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Free admission. Saturday, Jan. 13 

 

Exhibit opening -- The West Point/Clay County Arts Council hosts a reception from 2-3 p.m. to open a Tommie Valentine exhibit at the Louise Campbell Center for the Arts, 235 Commerce St., West Point. Visit wpccac.com. 

 

 

 

Friday, Jan. 18  

 

Memphis Jones -- The Columbus Arts Council presents Memphis Jones & The City Limits from BB King's Blues Club at 7:30 p.m. in the Rosenzweig Arts Center Omnova Theater, 501 Main St.. Saturday, Jan. 19 

 

Symphony orchestra -- The Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra presents "Our America" at 7:30 p.m. in MSU's Lee Hall. Celebrate both new and historic works of American music. Free. Visit starkvillesymphony.org. 

 

 

 

Monday, Jan. 21 

 

Day of Giving -- Following an 8 a.m. breakfast at Trotter Convention Center in Columbus, volunteers will distribute school supplies to teachers to help finish the school year, sponsored by Visit Columbus, City of Columbus, Board of Supervisors, Sodexo, United Way of Lowndes County and The W. Thursday, Jan. 24 

 

Exhibit reception -- The Starkville Area Arts Council hosts a free reception at 5:30 p.m. in The Partnership lobby, 200 E. Main St., Starkville, for "Endangered Mississippi." MSU architecture students explore small homes and large plantation stables in need of revitalization.  

 

 

 

Jan. 25-March 8 

 

Smithsonian Water/Ways Exhibition -- This traveling interactive exhibit at the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway Transportation Museum, 318 Seventh St. N., Columbus, explores how water affects the way we live, work, worship, create and play, and how to sustain this resource for the future.
