The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library will host an open house for its annual Festival of Trees Thursday, Dec. 8 from 4-6 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy live music and refreshments while strolling through the Winter Wonderland of trees. All trees are decorated by businesses and organizations in the Golden Triangle area. The Library’s tree is made possible through a generous donation by Weyerhaeuser Timberlands Technology South.
“As with many of you, the Weyerhaeuser family has been through a lot of changes this past year, including our completed merger with Plum Creek Timber Co.,” said Southern Environmental Research Manager Darren Miller in Columbus. “Weyerhaeuser remains committed to being a good neighbor and environmental steward for all the communities in which we operate. Please join our team this Christmas in reflecting on our blessings while helping those that are less fortunate.”
At the festival open house, children will enjoy crafts as well as a visit from Santa and Miz Claus.
“Come hear the sounds of area musical talent and vote for your favorite tree from Dec. 2 through noon Dec. 7,” invited event co-coordinator Brenda Durrett.
