The Youth Services Department and the Local History Department of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library announce a collaborative program highlighting the history of the United States through American Girl dolls. The event is set for Saturday, Aug. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the library located at 314 Seventh St. N.
The program is intended for school-age children, boys and girls, who are interested in learning more about Lowndes County’s and Columbus’ past. Participants will enjoy a short photo presentation of Columbus and Lowndes County through the years and interactive activities highlighting signature American Girl Doll time periods. Caroline Abbott (1812), Addy Walker (1864), Samantha Parkington (1904) and Rebecca Rubin (1914), all new to the library’s collection, will be featured in an effort to give children a stronger sense of their historical community.
“Come share the joy of play and literacy with your child while also introducing them to the history of Lowndes County,” Library Youth Services Coordinator Abbie Woolridge said.
