This year’s annual Souper Bowl, hosted by The Greater Starkville Development Partnership, is underway and there are some changes to the contest.
Now spanning the course of four weeks, the voting for the contest is online.
The lineup will include local restaurants offering a special soup for the four-week event duration to showcase Starkville’s culinary scene.
Local restaurants will offer a special soup for consideration and patrons will vote for their favorite.
Voting is done by visiting the restaurants and scanning the available QR code to vote for their favorite restaurant’s soups.
Participants will be entered to win gift cards to the participating restaurants each week.
“It’s not just sweater weather in these cold winter months — it’s also soup season!” said Paige Hunt, director of tourism for the Partnership. “This revamped event is a great way to encourage folks to visit our local restaurants and try something new.”
There is an additional incentive for voters as well. Those who vote for and taste the most soups will be entered to win one of three grand prizes including Mississippi State University baseball and unWine Downtown tickets, as well as a $200 shopping spree to downtown shops.
“We are really excited about this event moving forward, it’s a great way to support local restaurants and a way to reward those who participate,” said Paige Watson, director of Main Street.
Participating restaurants include: 929 Coffee Bar, Bin 612, Bluto’s Greek Tavern, Bulldog Burger Company, Cater’s Market, The Grill, Harvey’s, Moe’s Original BBQ, Proof, Restaurant Tyler, Sweet Peppers Deli, Taste Italian Kitchen and Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux.
