The Bernard Romans chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently held an awards reception at the Lee Home and presented the following students with Certificates of Achievement.
This year, the chapter chose one public school, a private school and home-schooled students to participate.
Essay winner was Abigail Hardy, an 11th-grader who is home schooled. She is the daughter of John and Lindsey Hardy.
Second place was Addison Robertson.
Good Citizen Award was presented to Anastasia Winters, a senior at New Hope High School. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Natilya Winters. She will attend the Air Force Academy in June. Winters also placed third in the Essay Division.
Honorable mention certificates were given to Lily Henry, Caleb Jenkins and Keturah Johnson.
The chapter awarded its JROTC Medal to Cadet Jakayah Perryman, a senior at Columbus High School. She will be attending Jackson State University this fall. She is the daughter of Robert and Tina Rogers.
