Sometimes we take some of the small blessings God does for us for granted. We don’t know how to appreciate what we have until we’re in danger of losing it. That’s why we should thank God every day for everything He does for us. “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” (Psalm 107:1) KJV
We should thank God daily for:
• Waking us up every morning — Some people think it was the alarm clock that woke them up. However, it was God who woke us up and allowed us to see another new day, and that alone is enough to thank God for. “Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.” (1 Chronicles 29:13) NIV
• Family and Friends — It is so easy to take people for granted, especially our family and friends. Nevertheless, we need to Thank God for family and friends because they will stand by us through the good and challenging times. “We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2) KJV
• Life — Jesus came that we might have abundant life in Him. Despite all the good and the bad that can come with it, life is worth appreciating and thanking God for. “I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.” (Psalm 7:17)
• Protection — God sends guardian angels over us to keep us safe 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We have no idea how much danger God protects us from everyday; therefore, we should thank God for His protection. “To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee forever.” (Psalm 30:12) KJV
• A Job — Sometimes it’s easy to take for granted what it means to have a job. While we’re grumbling and complaining about the demands of our boss or a lack of recognition, we should be thanking God for our job. Having a job is a great blessing from the Lord. “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20) KJV
• Good Health — If we’re in our right mind, have activity of our limbs, good eyesight and good hearing, we should give God thanks. “We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 75:1)
So be encouraged today and always remember: “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High.” (Psalm 92:1) KJV
