Over 50 vendors will provide last-minute Thanksgiving goodies at the 14th Hitching Lot Holiday Farmers’ Market.
The market will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday in downtown Columbus, near the Lowndes County Soccer Complex.
Main Street Columbus Executive Director Barbara Bigelow noted that the market will feature unique items that are homegrown or handcrafted within a 50-mile radius of the city.
“People might find everything they need to host their Thanksgiving dinner,” she said. “There is a good variety of baked goods, produce and meat vendors. You’ll never know what you might find.”
Besides items for fall and Thanksgiving, Christmas decor and crafts that make great gifts will also be available, Bigelow said.
The same vendor rules that apply to the regular farmers’ market season apply for the Holiday Market.
The presenting sponsor for the holiday market is Financial Concepts.
Applications for the holiday farmers market are still being accepted, Bigelow said. She noted the deadline to apply is Wednesday. Forms are available in the Main Street Columbus office, at 107 5th St. N., online at columbusmainstreet.com and on the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market Facebook page. The mission statement of the Hitching Lot Farmers’ Market is to support the development of local sustainable farming by cultivating a vibrant farmers’ market that serves as a community gathering place celebrating local farmers, food producers and artisans.
