Starkville and West Point have announced details for their annual Christmas parades.
The Starkville Main Street Association has announced the city’s annual Christmas Parade, presented by Reed’s, will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 on Main Street.
This year’s Grand Marshal will be Mississippi State Baseball Head Coach Chris Lemonis and coaching staff members of the 2021 NCAA National Championship team.
The parade theme is “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” in honor of Mike Goree’s 35th year participating in the Starkville Christmas Parade. Goree has been a “magical” key component of the Christmas Parade since 1986.
“We’re honored to give back to the Starkville community through our sponsorship of this year’s parade,” said Bo Summerford, president of Reed’s. “The event is sure to be a cultivation of all of the wonderful people who make the community so special.”
Parade applications are available at the Starkville Main Street Association office or online at https://starkville.org/visit/events/starkville-christmas-parade/.
The entry fee for parade participation is $25 made payable to the Starkville Main Street Association. All local and community organizations are encouraged to participate and attend.
Judging categories for this year’s event include Best Use of Theme, Best Use of Lights, and Best Overall Float entries.
