Starkville-Oktibbeha Achieving Results Community Foundation is accepting nominations for its 2020-21 Teachers of Distinction Awards.
Awards recognize K-12 teachers of distinction during the 2020-21 school year in the Starkville and Oktibbeha public, parochial and private schools, for their outstanding service and dedication. They will be presented at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership’s annual meeting in January 2022.
SOAR, an affiliate of CREATE Foundation, will fund up to three, $1,000 awards for Teachers of Distinction. Criteria for consideration include: student academic performance and growth; ability to inspire students; excellence beyond required duties; professional achievement and development; being an ambassador for the school district and education; effective approaches to teaching; and demonstrating a high level of integrity in all areas.
Students, parents, teachers, administrators, other school district employees or citizens can nominate teachers. An external selection committee chooses the award winners.
Nominations must be postmarked by June 1 to SOAR, P.O. Box 80010, Starkville, MS 39760. Forms are available from the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District website, by emailing [email protected], or from school principals.
