All are welcome to celebrate Earth Day with a Community Seed Swap Tuesday at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library System. The event is presented by the library, The Hive Farm and Garden and the Mississippi State Extension Service. The swap, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be held in the library public meeting room, at 314 Seventh Ave. N.
All are invited to trade and share seeds of food crops, herbs or ornamentals. Library staff and an MSU Extension agent will be on hand to share resources and answer questions. Even if you have no seeds or plants to swap, come to learn more about growing them.
Sharing seeds encourages the production and longevity of diverse varieties for increased sustainable living. It’s also a way of fostering community among new and experienced gardening enthusiasts.
Please label and date your swap items. There is no cost to attend.
Registration opens at 11 a.m. The swap and Q&A gets underway by 11:30 a.m. A presentation by The Hive begins at 12:30 p.m.
