Jesus can identify with us because He has already experienced some of the same things we’re going through right now. These are just a few:
Persecution — Jesus was persecuted, despised and hated for helping people. In return, some of the same people He helped turned their backs on Him and said “Crucify Him!” As children of God we will face persecution. Some people that we try to help will use us until they get what they want. Then when we need them the most, they will turn their back on us. “God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” (Matthew 5:10) NLT
Betrayal — Jesus was betrayed by one of His disciples, Judas, who walked with Him daily. Some people who walks with us pretend to be our friends, when all the time they’re plotting and thinking of ways to sell us out. “Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.” (Psalm 41:9) NKJV
Suffering — Jesus went through a lot of suffering for us. He was badly beaten, mocked, spit on, a crown of thorns was placed on His head and His hands and feet were nailed to a wooden cross. Therefore, we will have to suffer some things, but not as much as Jesus suffered for us. “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake.” (Philippians 1:29)KJV
Rejection — Every where Jesus went He spoke the word of God. Some people received it and some rejected it. When people reject us, we have to keep sharing the Word of God because they’re not rejecting us they’re rejecting God. “He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” (Luke10:16)NKJV
Forsaken — When Jesus was hanging on the cross, He felt like His Father had forsaken Him. Sometimes we feel like God has forgotten about us, especially when we can’t hear from Him or feel His presence. During these times, we have to be like Jesus and cry out in a loud voice saying, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46) KJV
So be encouraged today and always remember: Jesus went through the things we went through, but through His death and resurrection we have victory in Him. “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)KJV
