Karina Garcia, a recent graduate of West Point High School, has received the first Dr. Hiroji Noguchi Memorial Scholarship from North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point. Friends and colleagues of Dr. Noguchi established the scholarship after his death Oct. 4, 2019; Noguchi was a member of NMMC-WP medical staff.
Garcia plans to study nursing at Mississippi University for Women and has a special interest in pediatrics. At West Point High, she was secretary of the National Honor Society and graduated near the top of her class. Garcia also serves as a Catholic catechist and is active with the Catholic Youth Organization.
She is the daughter of Armando and Patricia Garcia.
