Zoe Fowler of Columbus, a Mississippi State University senior electrical engineering major, is receiving a scholarship as part of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation 2020 Astronaut Scholars Class. Recipients earn a merit-based scholarship of up to $10,000 and may participate in the ASF’s Innovative Leadership Mentor Program. Recipients will be formally recognized in August at the ASF Innovators Gala in Washington, D.C.
This summer Fowler will focus on writing a formal research paper on foreground extraction in a video sequence. Her work relates to enhancing study of highly-camouflaged snow leopards on video footage. A two-time recipient of the MSU Dean of Engineering Undergraduate Research Stipend, Fowler serves as vice chair of the ECE department’s ambassador group.
Fowler, and fellow ASF scholarship recipient Hannah Schaeffer of Ruston, Louisiana, are students in MSU’s Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College. Learn more at honors. msstate.edu.
