JACKSON — More than one thousand students, educators and community members will assemble for a school choice rally on the grounds of the Mississippi State Capitol at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Mississippians from across the state will be present at the annual event to raise public awareness for all K-12 education options available to families.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
“Empower Mississippi is excited to celebrate all education options during National School Choice Week at our Capitol rally,” said Grant Callen, founder and president of Empower Mississippi. “This is always a huge event and we expect this year to be so big that we are moving outdoors. Mississippi has made a lot of progress in empowering families with school options, but there is still more work to do. We believe every Mississippi family should have the ability to choose the best educational setting for their children. Join us on the steps of the Capitol as we rally for school choice in Mississippi.”
This event is being organized by Empower Mississippi, a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to promoting policy changes that expand opportunity for Mississippians.
