Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District Department of Family Centered Programs Adult Education celebrated their spring graduation on June 25. The ceremony was held at the Emerson Family School. This past semester the adult education program had a total of 13 graduates who completed their high school equivalency. Guest speaker for the event was the Rev. Abdural Lee of Sand Creek Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. SOAR representative Ross Williams awarded each graduate $50 for their hard work and commitment. Adult education director Joan Butler awarded diplomas.

Because a more educated populace promotes business and economic growth and better quality of life, the SOAR community foundation has awarded a total of $8,820 to graduates who went back to school to complete their GEDs.
