The Stephen D. Lee Foundation once again will offer and elegant and festive way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The Foundation’s seventh annual Valentine’s Day Gala is set for Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Columbus home of Eulalie and John Davis.
Floral decorations and tablescapes promise to be magnificent, organizers said.
“Betty Waters and her committee of Judy Livingston, Debbie Jenkins and Frances Hairston are planning a feast for the eyes with lights, silver, mirrors and lush flowers,” said Eulalie Davis, Foundation president. “No corner will be left untouched by these creative and talented ladies.”
The yearly February gala that helps support the historic Stephen D. Lee Home in Columbus is also known for its delicious fare.
“There will be plenty of feasting in the dining room as Lee Home docents and the best bakers in Columbus will present an array of decadent desserts and sumptuous savories,” remarked Davis, noting there will be plenty of chocolate as well as lemon and strawberry cakes. Participants can drop in or spend the entire evening enjoying the company, food and flowers.
The Davis home was built in 1879 and has been in Eulalie Davis’s family since 1951. The house is at its best and is happiest when it is full of people, she said.
Past Valentine parties have helped finance the construction of a wheelchair ramp at the Lee Home and provide repairs to the house and to its furnishings.
“Maintaining the Columbus landmark takes tremendous resources of time and finances, and this gala evening will help ensure its viability,” Davis said.
