An additional Mississippi Hills grant round with $50,000 available will be conducted between May 1 and June 30 for education grants only. These grants can be used to help defray some of the costs associated with school field trips during the 2016-17 school year.
“We had a great response to our first grant round,” said MHNHA Executive Director Mary Cates Williams. “However, we had $50,000 in alloted grant money left so the board decided to go ahead with another grant round.”
The education grants, previously titled transportation grants, are open to all school districts, school support groups and nonprofit cultural/heritage attractions within the Mississippi Hills NHA.
Requests of up to $1,000 per trip will be considered, and multiple trips may be requested on the same application. Funds must be used for educational field trip transportation and interpretation costs only.
“Our staff is available to help with the development of itineraries for the field trips,” Williams said.
To apply for an education grant go to mississippihills.org and download the education grant application. Once you have completed the application you can email it to [email protected] or mail a hard copy to 398 East Main St., Tupelo, MS 38804.
Approval of the grants will be made within six weeks of submission.
