The public is invited to join staff from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History for the workshop “Discovering Columbus: Exploring Your Local History Resources” on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 9:30 a.m. at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, 314 Seventh St. N.
MDAH archivists Krista Sorenson and Catherine Bell will discuss ways to discover the local history resources of Lowndes County and give an overview of the many collections available in the state archives in Jackson as well as online.
Columbus historian Rufus Ward will share his experiences working with multiple archives to discover the history of the Columbus area.
A virtual tour of MDAH’s online catalog and personalized research help will be available following the program. Space for the personalized research help is limited and registration is required.
This meeting is free and open to the public. Participants are welcome to bring a laptop.
