Candy Grant’s fertile imagination has already fueled five published children’s books, with more soon to come. This past week, the Columbus writer learned that her fourth book, “A Fairytale,” has been selected as a Mom’s Choice Awards Gold recipient. The book was released in February by Omnibus Publishing in Baltimore.
MCA awards, based in the United States, evaluate family- and child-oriented products and services from more than 40 countries. The gold seal of approval is globally recognized for establishing a benchmark of excellence.
“I am excited, honored and humbled to receive a Mom’s Choice Award,” said Grant. “It marks a monumental achievement in my writing career; my goal has always been to write entertaining, parent-approved books that children will love to read over and over again.”
The book illustrated by Rebecca Jordan-Glum begins as a fairy enters a young girl’s room. Something incredible happens when it flies too close to the ceiling fan, reads the story synopsis. When other fairies hear of the adventure, they come to investigate.
“We are thrilled to earn the Mom’s Choice Awards’ Honoring Excellence Seal of Approval,” said Wendy Dean, CEO and owner of Omnibus Publishing, in a press release Wednesday. “We know all the great things the MCA does to connect consumers, educators and caregivers with the best products and services available for families.”
Grant was a 2015 Ezra Jack Keats Award nominee for Best New Author. A breast cancer survivor, she holds a master’s degree from Mississippi University for Women and has been a licensed teacher.
Other books by Grant include “The Pigs Did It!” “Will You Bee My Honey?” and “Closet Creep.” “Big Bad Wolfie Tells His Side of the Story” was released June 10. Learn more about them at candygrant.com.
