Columbus students awarded Itawamba Community College scholarships include: Destinee Bigham, Academic, Leadership; Kelci Tucker, Academic, Leadership; Shelby Shirey, ACT Achievement Incentive, Leadership; and Darius Williams, Leadership.
Bigham, a 2015 graduate of Columbus High School, participated in cheerleading, Student Council and Drama Club. Honors include youth of the year, United States Achievement award in U.S. history, highest average in algebra II, National Honor Society, Beta Club and National Technical Society. She is the daughter of Donna Bigham.
Tucker, a 2015 Columbus High graduate, participated in cheerleading. Honors include CHS Homecoming Princess, student body president, National Honor Society and Beta Club. She is the daughter of Lauretta and Kalvin Tucker.
Shirey, a 2015 graduate of New Hope High School, participated in slow- and fast-pitch softball, volleyball, Beta Club and Spanish Honor Society. The daughter of Alan and Jenni Goodman is a member of Fairview Baptist Church youth.
Williams, a 2015 New Hope graduate, participated in basketball. Honors include principals list, Spanish Honor Society and the 2009 National English Merit award. Other activities are Vacation Bible School leader, Young Men Fellowship and leader of the Fatherless Child Ministry. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny McDavid.
