Those who missed getting tickets to the Sept. 4 premiere screening of “OzLand” before it sold out have another opportunity to see this first feature-length film by award-winning independent filmmaker Michael Williams of West Point.
The encore is Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at the Malco Theatre at 2320 Highway 45 North in Columbus. Tickets are $10, available as of press time online at ozlandthefilm.com, or contact Williams at Shendopen Productions, 662-275-3285. The first test screening sold out five days before the event. Theater capacity is 212.
The film creates a post-apocalyptic world where wayfarers Leif (portrayed by Zack Ratkovich) and Emri (Glenn Payne) wander. Their journey changes when Leif discovers a battered copy of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
The film made with an all-Mississippi cast and crew was shot in and around West Point and in Kansas. Costume designer KK Norris of Columbus and Keatzi Gunmoney of Starkville, who composed the original score, are Golden Triangle talents among the crew.
Williams has produced more than 20 short films and worked on dozens of others, including James Franco’s “As I Lay Dying.”
