While there are some couples who lavishly spend on an Italian castle for their wedding, there are others who prefer a small and cozy family affair. Wedding expenditure is hitting the charts and supplementing the already existing 70 billion dollars per annum industry. Anja Winikka, site director for theKnot.com, leads the online company which guides newly-engaged couples to plan their wedding by providing latest trends and resources throughout the United States.
According to Winikka, there has been a constant increase in the average wedding expenditure since 2007-08. Spending has now hit an all-time high. This is probably an indication of the fact that couples are OK with splurging or spending a little extra on their wedding. The average wedding expenditure in the United States is close to $30,000, excluding the honeymoon cost. Manhattan has been reported as the most expensive location to get married in the U.S. with the average cost amounting to approximately $90,000. On the other hand, you could opt for a complete bargain wedding at Idaho by spending around $16,000.
Irrespective of the location of the wedding, a decent wedding dress would cost approximately $1,300. Winikka mentioned that the guest list is perhaps the only factor where costs have been cut down as the number of people invited to the wedding has significantly reduced. However, this only means that guests are receiving a luxury treatment at the wedding due to an increase in the overall expenses.
