Have you always wondered if you could grow your own vegetables or learn what plants attract butterflies? Were you concerned that it would be too difficult to manage? Maybe you have been gardening for years, but want to learn more. If so, come and hear how you can get started growing your own healthy vegetables right in your own backyard.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service and the Lowndes County Master Gardeners will present a free program on “Home Vegetable Gardening” and “Butterfly Gardens.” This program takes place on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 318 College St., Columbus.
Presenters will be Mississippi State University Area Horticulture Agent Dr. Jeff Wilson, Lowndes County Extension Agent Reid Nevins and Lowndes County Master Gardener Lucy Harpole. Speakers will cover the basics of vegetable production and planting butterfly-attracting plants, in addition to answering gardening questions.
For more information, contact Nevins at the Lowndes County Extension office, 662-328-2111.
