The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library invites businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in its 2012 Festival of Trees.
Having adopted a theme of a Victorian Christmas, the library urges the community to embrace creativity in decorating one of the library’s artificial trees that will be on display through December.
An open house for the public is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 6, from 4-6 p.m. at the library located at 314 Seventh St. N., Columbus.
“It’s with great pleasure we invite everyone to join us for the annual Festival of Trees,” stated Alice Shands, director of the library. “Your display will be seen by hundreds of library visitors during the month of December.”
The theme is based on the Victorian era of the late 1800s in Great Britain, as depicted in Charles Dickens’ book “A Christmas Carol.” The number of library trees is limited; early reservations are recommended.
Some organizations, clubs, businesses and individuals may want to consider the smaller option of decorating a wreath to be used on the doors within the library building, said Shands.
To reserve a tree, or for more information and guidelines, contact Armand Edwards at the library, 662-329-5300, or email [email protected].
