“The Octette Bridge Club” — Starkville Community Theatre presents this entertaining play by P.J. Barry at 7:30 p.m. nightly, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Playhouse on Main, 208 E. Table Talk — Author Neil White discusses his acclaimed work “In the Sanctuary of Outcasts,” which details the time he spent in the last leper colony in the U.S. Bring lunch at 11:30 a.m.; iced tea provided. Songs of Mississippi —

The Columbus Arts Council opens its season of “Celebrate Mississippi” with Songs of Mississippi, featuring mezzo-soprano Sarah Mabary and pianist Victoria Johnson in the Rosenzweig Arts Center Omnova Theater, 501 Main St. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door. Salsa in the Streets — To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center at Mississippi State presents Salsa in the Streets in front of Colvard Student Union on the MSU campus. Brooksville Day — The Brooksville Day Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. presents games, food, family fun and entertainment by acts including the Caldwell Singers, Kingdom Flowz, Crossroad Band, Vick Allen and others in downtown Brooksville. Tour fees may apply. Homes open for tours year-round include: Amzi Love Home (c. 1848), Lee Home/Museum (c. 1847), Rosedale (c. 1856), Rosewood Manor (c. 1835), Temple Heights (c. 1837), Tennessee Williams Home (c. 1875), Waverley Mansion (c. 1852) and Whitehall (c. 1843).
