The Mississippi Baptist Singing Churchmen, one of Mississippi’s most outstanding men’s choirs, will be in concert at First Baptist Church of Columbus Monday, April 9, at 7 p.m.
The concert will be held in the church sanctuary at 202 Seventh St. N., in downtown Columbus. The choir is comprised of Baptist church music leaders from all across Mississippi. These vocalists are veterans of numerous international mission trips and perform regularly in churches of all sizes around the state, as well as at state convention functions. They have recorded regularly, and those CDs are available at their concerts.
This concert is a part of a spring tour that has the churchmen performing in Columbus, Oxford and Batesville. The concerts are free and open to the public.
A love offering will be received to fund mission projects of the group.
The Singing Churchmen are under the supervision of the Church Music Department of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board. Former Columbian Slater Murphy, director of the department, and Bobby Sanderson, minister of music at First Baptist in Columbus, invite everyone interested in “Lifting up the song of Jesus.”
