The artwork of three Mississippi University for Women seniors is on display at the Eugenia Summer Gallery through Dec. 8. Pieces by Shirley Boudreaux, Kelly Dimos and Windy Russell are featured in the Senior Exhibition.
This showcase of art produced by the students while pursuing their undergraduate degrees represents a continuous body of work that has been in progress over the past four years. As seniors, they are exhibiting works that show their understanding of a wide range of medium and techniques.
The artists
Boudreaux transferred to MUW from Northeast Community College, where she received her associate of art degree in 2008. She is pursuing a bachelor of fine art degree in studio art (printmaking and crafts). After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue a master”s in fine art. Boudreaux is married to Paul Anthony Boudreaux Sr. of Blue Mountain. They have three children and three grandchildren.
Dimos was born in Elkhart, Ind., to a family of art enthusiasts. She chose to pursue a career as an interior designer and completed two years of college before graduating with an associate”s degree. After carefully considering her goals, she decided to attend MUW to major in graphic design. Currently, she is developing her voice for change using visual communication and has focused much of her time lately on creating posters for a number of non-profit organizations.
Russell graduated from New Hope High and enrolled at MUW to pursue her art career. She is currently working toward her BFA in graphic design. As an art student, Russell has had the chance to work in several different mediums and likes to incorporate certain aspects from each area into her graphic design work. The Columbus native is the mother of three children, one boy and twin girls.
The Eugenia Summer Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is located in the Art and Design Building on the southwest corner of campus, directly east of the Stark Recreation Center.
