Dozens of the Golden Triangle”s best tennis players are set to face off this weekend at the seventh annual Buckley Faulk Memorial Tournament in Starkville.
The event will run Friday through Sunday at Mississippi State University”s Pitts Tennis Center and Starkville High School. Typically, about 100 players of all ability levels compete in the tournament, organizer Leah Kemp said Monday.
The event is named after the late Kathleen Buckley and the late Fred Faulk, Kemp”s father. Both were active members of the Starkville Tennis Association. Proceeds from the event will go to the STA.
Kemp is encouraging local tennis players to sign up for the tournament or just come out and watch.
“It will be a great way to have fun with different members of the community who enjoy playing tennis,” Kemp said. “It”s a good way to support the local tennis community.”
Players can register for the event at www.starkvilletennis.com. The cost is $25 per player. Each player may enter up to two events.
