STARKVILLE — The No. 22 Mississippi State men’s basketball team will kick off the month of December by playing host to McNeese at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Humphrey Coliseum.
MSU (6-1) climbed three spots in The Associated Press poll following victories against Alcorn State and Dayton last week.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network +. It also can be heard locally on the radio at WKBB-FM 100.9 and WFCA-FM 107.9.
MSU has won 18 straight non-conference home games, which is the second-longest streak in the Southeastern Conference.
McNeese (2-5) is coming off a 67-66 loss to North Carolina Central on Saturday. The Cowboys have two common opponents with the Bulldogs. McNeese lost to Saint Mary’s 87-65 and to Arizona State 80-52.
n Alabama will play host to Georgia State: At Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Alabama men’s basketball team (5-2) will play host to Sun Belt Conference preseason favorite Georgia State (5-3) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Coleman Coliseum.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network +.
Alabama is coming off a 70-64 loss to UCF on Thursday in its first true road game of the season.
The game against Georgia State begins an important four-game stretch. Alabama will play three of the games at Coleman Coliseum. It also will play host to Arizona (Dec. 9) and Penn State (Dec. 21). The only game not being played at home in the stretch is the game against Liberty on Dec. 18 in the Rocket City Classic at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Georgia State is the third opponent Alabama has played in eight games to start the season that was picked to win its conference in the preseason poll. Northeastern (Colonial Athletic Association) and UCF (American Athletic Conference) also are projected to be league champions.
Alabama also will play Stephen F. Austin (Southland) on Dec. 30. In addition, Alabama also faced off with Murray State (Nov. 26), which was picked to finish second to Belmont in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Georgia State (5-3) is coming off a 78-52 loss at Liberty. Prior to that game, Georgia State defeated Tulane 80-76 on Nov. 28 in New Orleans and beat Georgia 91-67 on Nov. 21 in the Cayman Islands Classic.
