SULLIGENT, Ala. — The storybook season continued for the Sulligent High School football team Friday night.
Tyreke Metcalfe caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Jaron Scott with 8 minutes, 25 seconds remaining to lift Sulligent past Fyffe 35-28 in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 2A playoffs.
Sulligent (12-1) will play Friday night at Lanett (13-0) for a berth in the state championship game.
In another quarterfinal Friday night, Lanett beat Lamar County 48-7 in Vernon, Ala.
For Sulligent, Scott was 20-for-22 for 266 yards and three passing touchdowns. He also rushed for a score. Scott hit C.J. McLemore from 30 yards out and Ethan Carter from 26 yards.
Rushing scores included a 3-yard run by Scott and a 23-yard run by Marco Mastin.
McLemore had eight catches for 132 yards. Metcalfe had eight receptions for 105 yards.
The lone Lamar County (8-5) touchdown was a 31-yard pass by T.J. Eskridge. An interception by C.J. Wise set up the score.

Addison 20: At Millport, Alabama, the Stallions are headed to the semifinals in the AHSAA Class 1A playoffs.
South Lamar (10-3) will play Friday night at Pickens County (11-2) for a berth in the Class 1A State championship game.
Herachio Washington ran 33 times for 278 yards for two touchdowns for the Stallions. Jackson Dowdle scored on a 1-yard run and also hit Jarrett Bryant on 39-yard touchdown pass.
Washington scored on runs of 38 and 2 yards, while Buster Griffin scored on a 54-yard run.
Griffin ran 12 times for 166 yards. He had seven tackles, two interceptions, and a sack.

Cherokee 8: At Cherokee, Alabama, the Tornadoes rolled into the AHSAA Class 1A semifinals.
For Pickens County, two 1-yard touchdown runs by Aljaron Edwards, a 35-yard touchdown from Edwards to Ta’Darien McIntosh, and a 25-yard field goal by Jermaine Hill meant a 23-0 lead.
Jacaurian Washington added a 2-yard touchdown run and Javian Prude scored on a 39-yard run for the Tornadoes.
